Himec / Harris Merger

HiMEC Inc of Rochester
merges with Harris Construction of St. Paul — creates largest mechanical contractor in Minnesota

HiMEC, Inc. of Rochester merged with Harris Companies of St. Paul on January 1, 2005. Quality Mechanical, a wholly owned subsidiary of Harris Companies, has moved into the HiMEC’s office. The combined group will operate under the HiMEC name and current management will remain in place.

The merger will bring to southeastern Minnesota many of Harris’s strengths, while maintaining HiMEC’s strong customer relationships.

Harris Mechanical’s estimating, engineering, project management and information services strengths bring much needed depth to HiMEC.

Southeastern Minnesota’s economy has been very challenging for union contractors the last couple of years and HiMEC’s duct producing capabilities have gone untapped. The merger creates a large, new marketplace for our duct.

The consolidation of HiMEC and Harris was a stock merger and no money changed hands. While the owners of HiMEC may have lost a bit of self-determination, the benefits of this merger far out weigh the negatives and we at HiMEC are delighted to be a part of the Harris family.
