CPI Executive Director Job Description
Position purpose summary:
Working with union contractors and union trades of southeastern Minnesota for the furtherance of labor and management relations. It is also to communicate the benefits of union construction to the general public and business owners in the community. The director shall support the primary goal of this organization which is to secure and increase the amount of construction work for union construction trades and contractors.
Essential functions:
- Communicating the benefits of union construction to the general public through speaking engagements, one on one meeting, service clubs/ organizations, commercials or other promotional avenues.
- Communicate to the board and all members the efforts, purposes and reasoning behind the marketing strategy of the CPI office.
- Keep informed of all upcoming projects in our community and get to know construction users and business owners.
- Foster good relationships between union labor and management and also between the different construction trades and contractors.
- Shall develop open lines of communication with both local and state government officials and staff.
- Report to the board and all members through monthly board meetings, monthly membership meetings and any other meetings either formal or informal to foster communication and support primary goal of CPI.
- Be responsible for keeping all financial records and statements for the CPI bank accounts including the prompt payment of all bills and accurate recording of all accounts.
- Be responsible for the accurate determination of all contributions of the contractors of the various trades. This also includes providing a report to the board members and CPI membership at monthly meetings.
- Responsible for providing proposed yearly budget to the board and refining budget as needed to meet changing needs and contributions of the organization.
- Must prepare all information for audits and tax returns and have submitted to appropriate party by deadline.
- Must have own vehicle and be willing to travel within Rochester area.
Education, experience, & other requirements:
- Good communication and interpersonal skills and be a highly motivated and self-directing individual.
- Understand accounting principles and possess good organizational skills.
- Experience in the construction industry either management or labor is recommended but must have at least some knowledge of the construction industry.
